February 1st, 2010

This Video Mixx was produced by Smoothe International — www.smoothemixx.com The key to ultimate achievement has very little to do with your education or skill level. The secret to accomplishing great things is simple: find and pursue the kind of work you are meant to do - your “purpose”. This funky, fabulous, motivating, and inspiring Smoothe Mixx will show you why Les is known worldwide as “The Motivator”. Les Brown has changed the lives of millions of people around the world with a powerful message that inspires, excites, and creates a passion for life that you have never experienced before. It empowers us to overcome obstacles so that we can live our dreams. When life knocks you down, you should always try to land on your back…because if you can look up, you can get up! You must have that hunger within to make something of yourself. That hunger is a motivating force. Find out what it is you want, and go after it as if your life depends on it. Why? Because it does.”

Clarify Your Goals for Greater Success

January 19th, 2010

Having clearly defined goals, especially written down, is necessary to ensure your success. Your greatest desires should become your goals, which you should clearly define. Don’t just say “I want to be rich”. State exactly how much money you want to attain, and by what date you want to attain it.

Make sure you write them down to solidify those desires in your subconscious. This will focus both your conscious and subconscious mind toward achieving your goals. It will also help you to turn them into a workable plan. Doing that will also motivate you as you read over them, and I suggest you do that daily.

Follow these tips in order to clarify your goals:

1. Figure out your ultimate goal. What, exactly, do you want?

* Example - Instead of setting a goal to be wealthy. Be specific about how wealthy you want to be. Say “I want a job, I enjoy that pays me a $2,000 a week after taxes and other deductions.”

2. Don’t be afraid of detail. You make the ultimate decision on what you want. Just don’t be afraid to set the details. Avoid goals like “I want to be rich” because there is no detail.

* How much money do you want to make?
* What will you do with the money when you receive it?
* How do you want?
* When do you want to receive this money?
* What can you do to make this a reality?

3. Break up your goals. When you stare at the ultimate goal, it may seem intimidating and unattainable. It’s important to break up your main goal into smaller goals. Write out detailed plans about how you’ll reach each of the smaller goals.

* For example, if you want to write a book, make an outline, and then define your character, places and conflict. Don’t just start blindly writing.

4. Set a deadline! By establishing a deadline you can no longer simply say I’ll do it tomorrow. By giving yourself attainable deadlines it will allow you to see progress, which it turn will make you less likely to give up on your main goal.

5. Keep track. Make detailed notes about what you have done so far. Keeping track of your progress will help you stay organized and on top of your goals.

Get and Stay Organized

Being organized is another key to success. You should use whatever system works best for you. Whether writing in journals, or using Microsoft Word or some other word processor, you will need to keep detailed records. Just remember to back up and save if you use word processors.

Regardless, of how you choose to get and stay organized allow yourself time to reasonably achieve your goals small and big. Set goals and time frames that are possible to reach don’t make it so demanding that you give up the first week. Stick with it and you will see that by having clear goals they will lead you to success.

Be Blessed & EXPECT SUCCESS,
Terry

Work Worth Doing

January 12th, 2010

Once again the great lady, Gretchen Rubin, over at the Happiness Project gave me a post idea. She was talking to Justice Sandra Day OConnor and the Justice gave her some advice on happiness that I couldn’t agree more with. I can tell you what I believe is the secret to a happy life, she said. Whats that, Justice? I asked. (Sidenote: when you speak directly to a Justice, you address him or her as Justice eg, Justice, the cert petitions are here. This, I always thought, must act as a frequent …

7 Steps To Control Your Smoking Urge

December 2nd, 2009

It is a lengthy process to quit smoking. It can take you everything from a few weeks or months to several years. The exact time it takes you to quit can vary, but no matter what it is important that you have some kind of plan to fight against your urge to smoke.

At some point in your experience trying to quit you will encounter a situation where the urge to smoke is very strong. How you handle this situation will go a long way towards your ultimate success. Being prepared for the urge to smoke will ensure that you have a plan to keep your willpower strong and continue on your path to quit smoking successfully.

Figure out when you typically smoke. Is it after a meal or your daily exercise? If you know when you typically smoke you will be in a better position to fight the urge.

Create a plan for fighting the urge. You can use simple things like a stress ball in your hand or a piece candy in the mouth. You can also try to brush your teeth every time you feel the urge to smoke. Or you can use a mint to freshen your breath.

Avoid the temptations that lurk. If you go out to eat, make sure you are sitting in the no smoking area. Avoid going into tobacco stores, and also try to limit the amount of time you are around other smokers. If you are continuously around cigarettes, it will be much harder to resist temptation.

Clean your house of all smoking instruments. This means all ashtrays, lighters and matches; and get rid of the smell of cigarettes. Products like Febreeze are great for helping to get rid of cigarette smell, which can also trigger an urge to smoke.

If you have a place where you typically smoke when you are at home, think about rearranging the area. If you are able to break the routine of the situation, you will be able to resist temptation much better. This works best if you always are in the habit of smoking in the exact same place, such as a living room looking out a window. If you move the chair to a different area of the room, or refocus the center of the room then you can help to avoid the temptation to smoke whenever you are sitting in the chair looking out the window.

Know your goal to quit smoking; and write it down. It might seem like a minor detail, but it can be a major step towards ensuring that you keep your focus on quitting smoking. If you just tell yourself in your head that you want to quit smoking, it will be much easier to cheat and give into the urge to start smoking again. With written goal, you will be more likely to follow them. This advice can also be used if you are trying to lose weight, exercise more etc. Goals on paper can improve responsibility radically.

Never discount yourself. You will be much more capable of the success if you are certain that you will succeed. Belief is everything. It will help you to be strong when the urge comes. If you are deciding to slip up intentionally, you will find it much harder to get back again. But if you hold on to your devotion to stop smoking you will find it much easier to handle the urge to smoke.

Martin Elmer is writing about quitting your cigarettes and rygestop dag for dag. You can also learn how to minimize your nicotine withdrawal symptoms with stop rygning products.

Setting Goals Brings Out The Best In Employees

November 2nd, 2009

How to set goals is the topic for this part of our management guide.

The setting of goals is one of the most significant, but frequently forgotten about, tasks at work. Yet, by applying some simple guidelines, managers and their employees can set and achieve goals that push themselves and their organization forward.

It is often assumed that employees are familiar with the goals of the company. This is not always the case, yet employees need to be clear on them so as to accomplish them. Scheduling weekly or monthly meetings with employees to discuss the position of the company and upcoming goals can have a great effect on employee morale. Employees that know where the company is headed are more likely to be going in the same direction.

Managers and employees need to communicate to formulate mutually agreed upon goals. Employees appreciate being listened to during the setting of goals and more often than not achieve set goals if they played a role in setting them.

Merely setting a goal to improve sales outright does not do much to inspire the sales team. However, if the goal were to be to improve sales by five percent in the month of July, the goal is more focused and measurable. Goals should include dates, times and amounts. Being precise means a much better chance of the goal being accomplished.

If goals are established and employees never hear if they have been reached, the whole purpose of goal setting becomes without credit. Managers should update employees continuously throughout the time period set for accomplishing a goal to let them know how close they are to achieving the goal.

Making sure everyone is working toward a common goal can be as simple as writing the goals down and posting them in a common area. To keep employees right up-to-date, managers could even plot the progress being made. This is advisable because simply being made aware at the end of the time period allotted that a goal was not accomplished damages morale.
