Using Motivational And Inspirational Quotes To Quickly Attain Your Goals

June 17th, 2010

Changing our day-to-day behaviors could possibly be easier than previously imagined. By meditating on and repeating motivational and inspirational quotes, we become better prepared to change our thought patterns, behaviors also, change our lives.

Here’s how it’s done.

If we believe something to be easy, we find little, if any struggle in attaining it. However, if we imagine something to be hard to accomplish, then our struggle becomes more apparent. In fact, if we imagine that it is hard to change a specific behavior, then we will always find experiences that will justify that belief.

Take this for example. We wake up one morning and decide that:

“This is the day I start losing weight. When things get difficult, I will not reach for junk food, but instead I will focus on something else to keep my mind occupied. It’ll be tough at first, but I’m going to give it a try.”

If you continue with this thought pattern and belief, don’t be surprised to find yourself struggling more often than not. Why?

If we look at this example closely we find a couple of thought patterns and beliefs already in place. We have determined to do something good for ourselves, but we do ourselves a disservice by choosing certain negative thought patterns, beliefs and words that go along with it.

We have said,

“When things get difficult….”

(This is already assuming that there will be difficult moments! Strike one!)

“It’ll be tough at first…”

(This is already assuming it will be difficult at first! Strike two!)

“…but I’m going to give it a try.”

(Remember the movie “The Karate Kid”…”There is no “try”, there is only “do”. Strike three!)

Now there are hundreds of products out there that will assist people in shedding pounds. Some, if not all of them, may work for various people at various stages of their goal. But for many people who have convinced themselves that losing weight is difficult, some products may fall short when our thought patterns are stronger than our desire to alter.

Here is something that I’ve done to change a behavior I no longer desired.

I recently lost 20lbs in about 12 weeks. I didn’t like the way I looked, felt or even thought for that matter. I needed to change and take some action towards it.

First, I realized that I had to change my way of thinking about slimming down. My old thought patterns were no longer working for me. My thoughts were like little tiny pictures that I projected in my mind of how heavy I was. I no longer wanted these pictures or thought patterns a part of my life. I had to choose a thought pattern and belief that would be easier to think about.

I chose this thought,

“Losing weight is easier than I thought.”

Perhaps not the most ideal for everybody but it worked for me.

Secondly, I chose a word I wanted to focus on for that day, week or month to help me in attaining my goal (Start with just a day, or just an hour for that matter. Keep it simple.) The word I chose needed to be in relation to the change I want to make. For example, I chose the word “FOCUS”, as I felt that that’s what I needed to think about most of time; focusing more on shedding pounds than gaining it. Choose any word as long as it relates to your situation. (Attitude, Energy, Action, Believe…)

Following that, I scoured the Internet for motivational and inspirational quotes that resonated within me that related to that specific word I chose. Quotes that I could remember, especially ones that really spoke to what I wanted to accomplish.

But here’s the most important part.

I needed quotes that were powerful enough to alter my thought patterns the moment I read them. Quotes that REALLY spoke to me when I my eyes fell upon them. Quotes that forced me to pause and think for a moment. Quotes that had that extra “edge” where my mind said, “Yes. This is one.”

These are all signs of a quote that held power for me. I “focused” in on the following quotes.

“All that we become is the result of what we have thought.” Buddha

“The only way to discover the limits of the possible, is to go beyond them into them impossible.” Arthur C. Clarke

“It’s not what you achieve in the end that matters, it’s who you become in the process.” Author Unknown

In fact, I found dozens of quotes that I resorted to from time to time, but these three I always came back to. They spoke of who I was, what I wanted to accomplish and who I wanted to become as I worked towards my goal.

I wrote them down. I carried these quotes with me constantly. I read them and meditated on them whenever I had the opportunity to. At work, home or at the gym (yup, I finally got myself to exercise, primarily by focusing on Arthur C. Clarke’s quote!), I focused on these three powerful quotes to help me FOCUS on what I wanted.

Because I changed my thought patterns, over time, I can honestly say I am 20 lbs lighter and a whole lot happier. I can honestly say I am 20 lbs lighter and a whole lot happier. Yes, I’ll be the first to admit that attaining the goal involved more than just thinking but it all began with my thoughts. The thoughts then permeated into my actions. (Now I need to FOCUS on maintaining that weight, so for me a whole new thought pattern begins.)

Here are the three steps again:

1. Decided to change your way of thinking about a behavior, making it easier for you to think about it. Phrase it in a simple way.

2. Choose a word to focus on to alter that behavior for a period of time.

3. Find a minimum of three motivational or inspirational quotes related to that specific word that are powerful enough to alter your current thought patterns the moment you read them. Meditate on them and repeat them, silently or out loud, every chance you get.

Be patient. Stick with it. Give it some time.

Why do you think companies offer a 30-day money back guarantee? They know that if you do something for 30 days it becomes a habit and you no longer need to return it! (Learned something, huh?) Give it time.

The first step to what you want to accomplish is changing your mind and the thought patterns and beliefs associated with your behavior. Thoughts are the precursor to action, meaning that thoughts occur before any action takes place. That’s what needs to be changed first. Your thoughts.

It worked for me and I hope this inspires and motivates you to accomplish your goal.

Think positive.

Be Yourself When Traveling On Gay Tours

May 7th, 2010

Being gay is still conversational in the world we live in today and its acceptance has ebbed and flowed through history. While people like to point backwards to the openness of homosexual culture in ancient Greece, that was over 2,000 years ago and the world has not rushed forward as a whole to embrace a gay lifestyle. While some areas are very welcoming, such as Canada which allows gays to get married there are varying degrees of acceptance in small pockets and arenas - like traveling the world in any number of gay tours.

In the United States, gay rights are debated across a variety of regions whose ideals shift radically based on culture and religion. Some cities are more gay friendly than others and some states, like Vermont, allow gay marriages that would not be recognized otherwise. Because America is a melting pot, the reaction to homosexuality runs the gamut, but it is still better than countries like Iran which punish gay lifestyles with death sentences.

Is it a choice? Are you born gay? These are the questions that the rest of the world struggles with and that a gay child does not concern themselves with. To be gay is to realize your difference very early one and carry that into puberty. Adolescence is already a time of struggle and reflection that for gay teens, includes having to choose between being in the closet and acting the part of a straight teen or coming out and dealing with reactions that can be either accepting or rejecting.

Coming to terms with sexuality and a place in the world means finding like minded individuals. Technology, thankfully, has stepped forward and given gays a voice and a community. Lesbian Gay and Transgendered (LGBT) groups have come forward to make gayness a safe and normal state of being that is supported and full of love.

Many straight adults never have to think twice about feeling accepted sexually and so it can be underestimated that for a gay person to be around other gay persons, it can be one of the most accepting and transformative experiences. Finding time to be around other gays and having a sense of community does not have to be the exclusive purview of gay clubs. Travel feeds the soul and traveling with other gay people on gay tours can open up the world.

Gay tours are fantastic travel opportunities that bring down any feeling of anxiety and create a travel itinerary that puts the emphasis on fun and experience, and not to whether where you are going it gay friendly or if you have to pretend to be straight. Gay tours can be something as simple as a cruise, or as elaborate as a trek through the Himalayas. You can experience every thing from spiritual enlightenment to a down and out party atmosphere - the choice is yours.

There are a variety and number of vacations that will have you surrounded by other gay people and couples. No matter your interests there are tours specific to your desires. Also, the extent in which tours are gay can vary according to your interests be it gays, lesbians, and their friends, gay families, just gay men, and only lesbian women.

Experience the world and let your true personality shine through without fear of being rejected. Gay vacations are a great way to relax and take a moment to be around so many other gay people, a luxury that straight people have every single day. The psychological benefits cannot be discounted.

Gay Travel Packages In Switzerland

April 25th, 2010

Considered as potential market in recent issue for tourism, gay tourists are finding their way towards contributing revenue in the destination market. So the reason why gay travel to Switzerland will give you the hint of why is this such.

Switzerland, a country which may be so small in the map, is really considered as one of the most tourist hunt countries in part of Europe. It has various remarkable spots to choose from. A tourist can have great time wandering around for a holiday there. Without a doubt, no bunch of tourist could resist its stunning beauty. And that doesn’t exclude the number of gays having these special tours that are intended for gays alone. A bus can take them for departure Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Prague, Amsterdam and also Vienna. The prices would only take them $100.00 and up to $3,000.00 above.

They will of course vary on the kind of accommodation they would want. The mere fact that those particular buses for gay passengers, they are truly considered to be potential for market revenue, would you agree?

There are lots of great spots in Switzerland to visit. That glorious snow-capped Alps, those breath-taking mountainside villages and the pristine valleys are just one of the few. Plus the fact that they can travel with professional gay tour guides, it will surely give them that unforgettable travel observing cultures of Swiss.

Gays can already enjoy the journey without judgments with their lifestyles. They can familiarize themselves because they will be travelling with the same gender as them. Try to ask somebody who’s been to different gay travels and their story would be happy ones. Why not read about gay journeys in Switzerland and you will be given options where you will want to go. That tours are actually treated as gay-friendly.

Going back 1970, the subject has been to many debate because others doesn’t accept homosexuals. They are having law conflicts like for marriages and people; in general, don’t see them like normal individuals. But the law for anti-discriminatory justified them. And yet, it does not assure them that all people will look at them with respect. Rejection will be present at times, no one can avoid that. With these society norms, a doubtful image can still be thrown towards the gay population.

As such, they have opted for those gay vacations packages like that in Switzerland. Though this, gays can taste the word holiday rather than mere pronouncing it. What more could be nicer in a tour than being comfortable and to feel that you are safe with the same minded people like you do?

The result for their want of having their personal lives respected is this. It had offered them the freewill not to experience hardships of transferring from place to place. They will be guaranteeing their delight for what a vacation should be. Gay destinations to Switzerland won’t be a bad idea for a trip after all. In is in fact such a good idea to get away from your stresses sometimes.

Morocco And Gay Holidays

April 17th, 2010

Morocco is a country steeped in myths and legend and offers gay travel opportunities to experience a rich history and culture that continues to strongly influence daily life. Morocco offers visitors the chance to cross the desert atop a camel, sleep in a hotel made of sand and haggle with aggressive spice and rug traders in marketplaces that look and feel like they are from another time in history. In many towns and cities former homes have been transformed into guest lodgings, called riads, that often offer a more welcoming atmosphere for travelers on a gay vacation and provide the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of Morocco. While there is no visible scene in this conservative Muslim country, there are still abundant reasons for Morocco to be part of your gay travel plans, including ancient ruins and architecture, exceptional beaches, desert landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see and open air souks (markets) that wind through village streets offering exotic wares.

With splendid Muslim mosques, Roman ruins, street performers and snake charmers, a vacation to Morocco is a once in a lifetime experience full of sights, smells, colors and sounds. Travel to Morocco would simply not be complete without standing in awe of the distinct art deco architecture in Casablanca, climbing atop an ancient white wall in Tangier to take in the expansive ocean views and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, visiting the Dar Si Said Museum in Marrakech and exploring the diverse corridors of the Fes medina.

Jet set European and American composers, writers and socialites once flocked to Morocco in droves, making it a well-known, popular gay vacation destination; however, while Morocco was once a welcoming playground for gay vacations, a push by Muslim leaders to return to the stricter moral code of Islam has negatively influenced this once liberal vacation spot. While rarely enforced, same-sex conduct was criminalized in 1962 and travelers on a vacation to Morocco should keep in mind that it is a criminal offence punishable by up to three years in prison and fines.

In a 2009 statement, the Moroccan government asserted that homosexuality will not be tolerated and will be repressed, which means there may be an increase in enforcement and travelers should be particularly aware of their surroundings when in public. Laws and attitudes such as this are common in countries that are primarily Muslim and do not necessarily indicate that Morocco should be avoided when partaking in gay travel.

It does; however, indicate that awareness and discretion are advised wile on a Morocco vacation. To avoid possible issues, travelers may want to consider participating in a travel group vacation or planning their trip with the assistance of a gay tours company well-versed in planning vacations in Morocco.

A Gay Vacation Guide For Mongolia

April 2nd, 2010

Although there is not much of a gay scene throughout Mongolia, its beautiful landscapes and unique culture prove gay tours to this wonderful place can be special. Homosexual acts were declared legal in 2002, but naivete about homosexuality still persists and gay travel to Mongolia is a good idea for your next vacation.

Mongolia is sparsely populated, leaving plenty of room for the beautiful lakes, majestic mountains and flowing rivers for which the country is often known. Mongolia boasts a unique history as the Mongols and Genghis Khan once ruled powerfully, only for the country to later fall under Soviet grasps.

With beautiful landscapes and cultural experiences, Mongolia can be a popular destination for gay travelers despite its not being known for an open gay scene.

As you consider a trip to Mongolia, you will want to start your adventure in the capital of Ulaanbaatar. There is an international airport or you can take the train directly from Beijing for a unique overland experience. As Mongolia’s capital and largest city it is the perfect starting point for countrywide excursions.

While drawing up an itinerary in the capital, you can expect to pay roughly twenty American dollars per night in most guesthouses, where you will meet friendly staff offering assistance in planning.

From there, the options are plentiful. For shorter stays, consider a local home stay near Terelj National Park, just two hours from the capital and an easy ride to the Gobi Desert. You might also want to think about a trip to Genghis Khan’s ancient capital or adding a week to head north for spectacular lake, mountain and river excursions.

Longer stays are possible and can incorporate larger tours of the country as a whole, making the diversity of the nation more apparent.

Ulaanbaatar itself offers tourist sites to visitors. It maintains a vibrant culture and delicious yet cheap restaurants, including Mongol Shabu, which offers traditional menus. You can also visit the Natural History Museum or catch a performance by the esteemed Mongolian National Symphony Orchestra at The Culture Show.

While Mongolia may be an incredible, off the beaten path for gay vacations, homosexuality is not necessarily received well. There are few religious barriers to it; however, a general lack of gay context leaves a general sense of naivete on the subject.

While visiting the country independently and sorting out an itinerary on your own offers flexibility, there are also travel groups catering to LGBT travelers that provide structured trips.

Typically they served as a way to see the “best of” the country and highlights include the Gobi Desert, ancient capital of Kharakorum, local camel farms and the Terelj National Park. With various activities like horseback riding along the Mongolian Steppe and cultural activities like traditional Naadam festivals, they appeal to all types of travelers.

These groups often include visits with local LGBT groups and a look at the barely existent gay scene in country. Despite a small gay scene, the country offers beautiful landscapes and unique culture that make it an unforgettable excursion for gay destinations.

Howie Holben wrote this commentary about gay trips to Mongolia opinion. He is the the force behind Spirit Journeys, a gay men meditation business. Spirit Journeys presents spiritual gay traveling all over the planet.
