Getting motivated is something that most of us need help with at some point. Motivation is what gets us to our goals. It’s the reason why we succeed at what we do.

For most people the motivation is what they’re going to get at the end of something.

An example of motivation may be to exercise extra hard so that you can feel comfortable when you go to the beach in the summer.

So below are a few tips to help get you motivated to get what you want.

Some people are so motivated and work so hard to get to their goalthey burn themselves out. Burning yourself out will eliminate all of your motivation. So it’s important to take breaks to clear your mind. This in turn will keep you motivated.

Writing down a plan every day is a great way to keep your motivation levels up because you will know what you need to do to reach your goal on a daily basis.

The great thing about having a plan is that you can tick each item off as all they’re all there in black and white with what you need to do. Just stick to the plan and you will reach your goal a lot easier and quicker.

A great way to help keep you motivated is to give yourself a little reward whenever you complete a big task or reach a goal.

But remember that your reward that you give yourself should contrast the size of the goal that you achieved. When I reach a small goal I buy myself a new book.

Rewarding yourself when you achieve a goal or complete a task is a great way to keep your motivation going. And it will make your achievement even better.

A great way to get motivated is to tell somebody else about your goal. This way if you tell somebody close to you about your goal you will consciously not want to fail in front of them.

A Local’s List Of Travel Options To Go When You Need To Escape Manhattan

If you live in New York, then you know how terrible summers here can be. The streets are crowded, and the heat is sweltering. Come the weekend during the summer, the last thing you want to do is stick around in Manhattan. Here some great weekend getaway options.

Just drive north. It doesn’t matter where, the further you drive north, the more beautiful it gets. Find a little hotel on a placid lake in Connecticut, or stay at the Castle on the Hudson for a luxurious weekend vacation.

Another option is to go to Fire Island. If you have never been to Fire Island, it is worth the trek. The island has its own climate system; so don’t pay attention to any forecasts, as it is usually good weather there.

Of course, a very popular option for New Yorkers on the weekend is to head out east to the Hamptons. I personally don’t love the nightlife out in the Hamptons, but it is a great place to be during the day.

Some of the most beautiful, yet still relaxing areas out in the Hamptons are Watermill and Wainscott. You can also take it one step further by heading further east to Montauk.

If you have grown weary of the Hamptons, a great alternative is to head to the North Fork. It is much less of a scene than the Hamptons and is much more relaxing. There’s plenty to do there, as the area has a ton of vineyards. Go wine tasting for a day.

Cape Cod is another great option to get away for the weekend. You can take the train from Penn Station up to Boston and then its about a 45 minute ride from there. Or just endure the 3 hour drive.

When you are drafting a team in fantasy basketball, there’s definitely luck involved, but usually the general manager who has the most well-balanced team will be in good positioning for the season.

I would say the two most important stats to after are blocks and assists. There are only a handful of players who do either very well and if you have someone who is top 5 in either category, you are in good shape.

For the record, if you have first pick, you pick Lebron James. No question about it. If you have second pick and he is somehow available, congratulations.

But back to reality, you want to go after someone who blocks or gets a lot of assists. Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo will most likely be the top two point guards available and either is a great pick. They both are top 5 in assists and steals. Steals are also hard to come by.

If you are looking for someone who blocks well, Dwight Howard is far and away the best. His free throw percentage is extremely detrimental to your team though, so I’d go for someone else like Pau Gasol or Lamarcus Aldridge.

Rebounds are also a very important stat to consider. It is a good idea to look for a solid rebounder that also has a high free throw percentage. This is not that common and guys like Brook Lopez and Pau Gasol meet the description.

Last but not least, if your league counts turnovers as a stat, you’ll want to avoid guys like Brandon Jennings or Steven Jackson.

Determination Has Its Rewards

Many newspapers across the world not long ago carried the intriguing story of Mr. Curtis Jackson (popularly known as 50 Cent) who in a bid to play a role in an upcoming film “Things Fall Apart” lost over 50 pounds (23kg). The role was that of an American football player who was diagnosed with cancer.

How did he achieve such an astonishing result? By going on a liquid diet and spending three hours each day on the treadmill for nine weeks! He looked so emaciated after this unusual exercise compared to how he looked before he started that it was difficult to tell it was the same person. Can you imagine a healthy adult deciding not to eat any solid food for nine whole weeks and on top of that engaging in a rigorous exercise every day? To me, that is something.

People’s reactions and opinions concerning this were different across board. To some people, it was an inspiring and a worthwhile achievement especially as it would raise public awareness to the havoc of cancer. But there were those who reacted negatively to it because they thought he was making a mockery of a very serious matter. And of course, there were those who were totally indifferent to it.

Such an accomplishment which was achieved on purpose is too great to be ignored and it carries a message which we shouldn’t miss.
Irrespective of what anyone might think about it, I personally think there is a great lesson that we ought to learn from it. And it is the fact that with determination, you can go far in life and achieve seemingly impossible results.

Where does determination come from? It comes from our own individual will, decisions and self discipline. That means every one of us has or can have it. If it was something that needs to be bought from the market, then some of us might complain that we can’t afford it because it is too expensive.

There are a lot of people who easily throw up their hands in the face of difficulties and surrender to their challenges. What they often do not realize is that if they would only bring their determination to bear on such circumstances, things can turn around in their favour.

Of course I am aware that there are some difficulties that cannot be overcome by the power of personal determination. But we must not be too quick to conclude that our challenges belong to that category as we are often tempted to do.

And where it really does go beyond the power of your own determination, there is still a way to overcome impossible situations and stubborn difficulties. The secret is to turn them over to God because with Him all things are possible. Unfortunately, many people are totally unaware of how real God is and how keenly interested He is in helping us out of our difficulties.

Here, I am not talking of dead, dogmatic and empty religiosity which is of no real value to anyone. What I am talking about here begins with a real personal relationship with God through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Believe me, it will open to you a world of possibilities that you never knew existed. I can talk confidently about this because I have proven it first hand - again and again. You will not be disappointed.
